The Close Combat Clasp is a distinguished WWII German Military Award symbolizing valor in hand-to-hand combat. Established on November 25, 1942, this prestigious decoration was awarded to soldiers who demonstrated exceptional bravery and skill in close-quarter battles. The clasp was prominently worn above the left breast pocket of military uniforms, signifying the soldier's commitment to their fellow warriors and the intensity of engagements they bravely faced.

This award was issued in three tiers, each representing varying levels of combat achievement:

  • Bronze Level: Awarded for fifteen days of participation in hand-to-hand combat.
  • Silver Level: Awarded for thirty days of participation in hand-to-hand combat.
  • Gold Level: Awarded for fifty days of participation in hand-to-hand combat.

Notably, exceptions were made for soldiers who sustained severe injuries in battle, allowing for reduced requirements. With only approximately 36,400 bronze, 9,500 silver, and 631 gold clasps awarded, this decoration is highly sought after by collectors and represents a significant piece of military history.
